Avalonia is an independent publisher specialising in the occult, Paganism, polytheism, witchcraft, folklore, Western esotericism, and goddess spirituality. For more than thirty years, we have published books for those who seek a deeper understanding of magical, spiritual, and historical traditions.

Founded by author and occultist Sorita d'Este, Avalonia grew from a passion for preserving and sharing meaningful works on magic, spirituality, mythology, and religious traditions. Her vision continues to shape the ethos of the press - a commitment to intellectual curiosity, spiritual exploration, and respect for both scholarship and lived experience.

Our catalogue is shaped by curiosity, experience, and a respect for knowledge. We publish works by scholars, scholar-practitioners, and experienced practitioners, bringing together careful research with direct engagement in the traditions they explore. Many of our titles cover subjects rarely found in mainstream publishing, offering readers access to specialised knowledge, overlooked sources, and unique perspectives.

About Sorita d'Este

Sorita d'Este is an author, publisher, editor and researcher specialising in mythology, polytheism, ancient religions and Western Esotericism. Founder of Avalonia, she has spent more than twenty years publishing books on historical grimoires, ceremonial magic, folklore, mythology and the Gods and Goddesses of cultures from around the world. Internationally recognised for her pioneering research into Hekate and devotional polytheism, her work is particularly noted for connecting scholarship, historical sources and living traditions, while championing subjects often overlooked by larger publishers.

Avalonia is currently open to submissions on mythology, polytheism, folklore, historical magic and Western Esotericism. Our interests include historically grounded studies of Gods and Goddesses, lesser-known religious traditions, historical grimoires, ceremonial magic, folklore and source-based explorations of esoteric traditions.

We are particularly interested in original research, translations, critical editions and carefully documented studies that bring neglected texts, overlooked traditions and underrepresented subjects to a wider audience. We welcome proposals from scholars, practitioners and independent researchers whose work demonstrates intellectual rigour, originality and a deep engagement with their subject.

Our aim is to publish books that preserve knowledge, illuminate historical traditions and contribute meaningfully to the study of the Occult, Mythology, Polytheism and other Pagan studies.

Please note that Avalonia pays royalties based on a percentage of the recommended retail price (RRP) of each copy sold twice yearly. We do not offer advances. We cover the costs of editing, design, production, printing and marketing, and do not charge authors for publication.
